Barrierefreiheit Statement.

Art de Vivre wants everyone to be able to use this site and to understand our homes before they book. Here is what we do, where we fall short, and how to reach a person if something gets in your way.

Last updated: 2 September 2026

1 · Our commitment

The standard we aim for.

Art de Vivre aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We treat accessibility as part of building the site, not an afterthought, and we work to improve it as we add pages.

2 · What we do

Measures we take.

  • Semantic HTML structure with a single main heading per page and a logical heading order.
  • Descriptive alt text on images that carry meaning, and empty alt on purely decorative ones.
  • Full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus outline on links, buttons and form fields.
  • Form fields with associated labels, and clear error and consent messaging.
  • Colour contrast checked against the WCAG AA thresholds (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Respect for the prefers-reduced-motion setting: animations and parallax are reduced or removed when your device asks for less motion.
  • Maps and other embeds load only when you choose to open them, so the page stays light and predictable.
3 · Known limitations

Where we’re not there yet.

We are honest about the gaps, and we are working on them:

  • Some archival and neighbourhood photographs do not yet have full descriptive text.
  • A few interactive maps and third-party booking widgets are provided by outside services whose accessibility we do not fully control.
  • Older journal posts may not yet meet every AA criterion; we are reviewing them page by page.

If you hit any of these, tell us — we will help you directly and prioritise the fix.

4 · Accessibility of our properties

The homes themselves.

Art de Vivre lets and manages a range of homes across Rio de Janeiro, and their physical accessibility varies a great deal. Many older Rio buildings have steps at the entrance, small lifts, or no lift at all; some newer buildings and villas are step-free with wider doorways. We do not want any guest to arrive to a surprise.

Before you book, ask us about a specific property and we will tell you plainly what we know — entrance steps or step-free access, lift access and lift size, bathroom features (walk-in shower, grab bars, tub), whether a bedroom and bathroom are on the entry level, parking, and pool access. If a property is not wheelchair accessible, we will say so. Where we are unsure, we will find out or arrange a video walkthrough before you commit.

5 · How this was tested

Our testing.

We test with keyboard-only navigation, with a screen reader (VoiceOver on macOS/iOS), and with automated audits (Google Lighthouse and axe) on the home page, a listing page and the contact page. Automated tools do not catch everything, so human feedback matters — please use the contact below.

6 · Contact us

Tell us if something’s in your way.

If you have trouble using any part of this site, or need information about a property in a different format, contact us and we will help and put it right:
