Edifício Palácio das Flores.

Five floors on the Arpoador end of Vieira Souto.

About the building

Edifício Palácio das Flores in brief.

Palácio das Flores sits at Vieira Souto 86 — the first beachfront stretch coming off Arpoador, a few hundred meters from the rock where crowds gather for the sunset. Built in 1961, it is one of the lowest buildings on the avenue: five floors, 25 units, which on this street means the building itself is a rarity. Nothing this low gets built on Vieira Souto anymore.

The unit mix is the widest on the avenue — from 45 m² studios to 490 m² plates, topped by a 1,040 m² penthouse. That spread gives buyers a rare entry ticket to a Vieira Souto address: the small frente units trade well below the avenue's headline numbers while carrying the same sand-and-postcode premium.

History

How it got here.

Delivered in 1961, in the first construction wave that turned the Arpoador end of Vieira Souto into a built avenue. The five-floor height reflects the era's zoning — later buildings on the same street doubled and tripled it, which froze Palácio das Flores as one of the few low-rise survivors with direct beach frontage.

The building has remained a single residential condominium since delivery, with the original 1961 structure preserved through maintenance cycles rather than reconstruction. Access control and monitoring systems were modernized in the 2010s.
